This tour combines spiritual exploration, scenic boat rides, and light trekking, making it a fulfilling cultural experience. Highlights include:
Scenic Boat Ride on the Yen Stream:
The journey is often a part of the pilgrimage to the famous Perfume Pagoda, one of Vietnam's most revered religious sites, and begins at the Duc Wharf. Visitors can relax in small, flat-bottomed boats rowed by local boatmen, gliding through the misty river in the early morning or the gentle warmth of the afternoon. Throughout the ride, there are breathtaking views of dramatic rock formations and seasonal blossoms, including the vivid pink lotuses that bloom in the summer, creating a magical atmosphere.
As you drift along, you'll witness traditional rural life along the riverbanks and may catch sight of various bird species and aquatic plants, adding to the richness of the experience. The boat ride on the Yen Stream is peaceful and picturesque, providing a perfect escape into nature and a glimpse of Vietnam’s timeless landscapes.
Thien Tru Pagoda:
Thien Tru Pagoda, also known as the Heaven Kitchen Pagoda, is a stunning temple nestled within the Perfume Pagoda complex in Vietnam’s Huong Son region. Located amidst majestic limestone mountains and dense forests, this historic pagoda combines natural beauty with intricate architecture, making it a captivating destination for both pilgrims and visitors.
Originally built in the 15th century, Thien Tru Pagoda is renowned for its beautiful courtyard, towering stone pillars, and elaborate carvings. The pagoda’s main hall, also known as the Outer Pagoda, showcases delicate statues, intricate woodwork, and beautifully ornamented altars. Just outside, visitors can admire the granite pillars and a large stone monolith known as the Fairy Rock, which adds a mystical charm to the surroundings. During the annual Perfume Pagoda Festival, Thien Tru becomes a focal point for thousands of pilgrims who come to pray and experience the region’s spiritual ambiance.
Set against a backdrop of rolling mountains and lush forests, Thien Tru Pagoda provides a peaceful, reflective space and offers a scenic stop along the pilgrimage route to the Perfume Pagoda. The tranquil environment and traditional architecture make it a perfect place to soak in the serenity and heritage of Vietnamese Buddhism.
Huong Tich Cave (Perfume Pagoda):
Huong Tich Cave, known as the Perfume Pagoda, is a magnificent natural cave and one of Vietnam’s most important spiritual sites, located in the Huong Son mountains near Hanoi. This sacred cave is the centerpiece of the Perfume Pagoda complex and is often considered one of the country’s most awe-inspiring Buddhist pilgrimage destinations.
Visitors enter Huong Tich Cave by descending a series of stone steps, and upon arrival, they are greeted by a grand opening inscribed with ancient Chinese characters meaning “the most beautiful cave in Vietnam.” Inside, the atmosphere is mystical, with dramatic stalactites and stalagmites that have naturally formed into unique shapes over centuries. Many formations are believed to represent symbolic shapes, such as the “Golden Tree” and “Silver Tree,” as well as figures associated with Buddhist teachings.
The cave also houses a revered altar to Quan Am (Goddess of Mercy), and pilgrims light incense, leaving offerings in hopes of receiving blessings. Every spring, the cave becomes a focal point for thousands of devotees who participate in the Perfume Pagoda Festival, which is one of Vietnam’s largest Buddhist festivals.
With its serene atmosphere, spiritual significance, and breathtaking natural formations, Huong Tich Cave offers a unique blend of nature and devotion, making it a must-visit for those seeking both spiritual and scenic experiences in Vietnam.
