Day 1: Cycling Through History and Stunning Views

Cycling to Hoa Lu Ancient Capital

Start your adventure with a scenic 20-minute cycling trip (or an optional bus transfer) from Cozy Vietnam Restaurant to the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. As you cycle through peaceful rural landscapes, the sight of towering limestone mountains and lush green fields will set the stage for a journey steeped in history and natural beauty.

Once you arrive at Hoa Lu, park your bicycle and take a walking tour through this historic site, where Vietnam’s early dynasties began. Explore the temples of King Dinh and King Le, two important figures in Vietnamese history, surrounded by scenic mountain views. Learn about the significant role Hoa Lu played in the nation’s political and cultural development during the 10th and 11th centuries.

Visit Tam Coc or Trang An: Majestic Waterways

After lunch, continue your exploration with a boat ride through either Tam Coc or Trang An—two of Ninh Binh’s most famous natural wonders.

  • Tam Coc: Often referred to as “Ha Long Bay on Land,” Tam Coc offers a peaceful boat ride through three majestic caves surrounded by rice paddies and limestone cliffs. The stunning landscape is perfect for those seeking both relaxation and adventure.
  • Trang An: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Trang An is known for its interconnected caves, ancient temples, and lush waterways. The boat ride here is an experience of serenity and beauty, as you float through the heart of this geological wonderland.

Mua Cave: Climbing to Panoramic Views

End your first day with a visit to Mua Cave (Dancing Cave). A short hike up nearly 500 stone steps leads you to the summit of Lying Dragon Mountain, where you can enjoy one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the Tam Coc valley. From the top, take in the sweeping vistas of green rice fields, winding rivers, and towering limestone peaks. The dragon sculpture at the summit adds a unique touch, making it a fantastic spot for photos and reflection.

Day 2: Exploring Cuc Phuong National Park’s Rich Biodiversity

Discovering Cuc Phuong National Park

The second day begins with a visit to Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam’s oldest and most famous national park. Known for its biodiversity and stunning landscapes, Cuc Phuong is a must-see for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The park is home to an abundance of plant and animal species, including many that are endangered and protected.

One of the highlights of your visit will be the Endangered Primate Rescue Center, a sanctuary dedicated to the conservation of endangered primates. Learn about the park’s efforts to protect species like the Tonkin snub-nosed monkey and other rare primates, and enjoy the opportunity to observe them in a natural, protected environment.

A short walk from the center will take you to the “1000-Year-Old Tree”, an ancient tree that stands as a symbol of resilience and longevity. The towering tree, estimated to be over a millennium old, is a living testament to the natural beauty and history of Cuc Phuong National Park.

Cave of Prehistoric Man: A Glimpse into Vietnam’s Past

The last stop in Cuc Phuong National Park is the Cave of Prehistoric Man, where you’ll step back in time to explore ancient caves that were once inhabited by prehistoric humans.
